Prescription drugs go head-to-head with exercise

Meta-analysis of 305 studies compares their performance

According to a study published in the BMJ (British Medical Journal), when exercise and prescription drugs duke it out — they perform evenly, with only one exception.

  • Equally effective for treating chronic heart failure.
  • Equally effective for treating diabetes.
  • Exercise vs. statins, equally effective.
